We gave our intern Joy a digital camera and 20 minutes to shoot photos of the neighborhood where our office is.

So being the new intern at Fecal Face and all, John thought it would be a good idea if I familiarized myself with the neighborhood by taking a brief walking tour to map out spots for when I would need to drop off his dry cleaning, pick up the incidental special-occasion card, or to order him his mid-afternoon fix for a non-fat sugar-free decaf soy coffee beverage. He also figured that while I was at it, I could document what I saw so that all you faithful Fecal readers can get to know me a little better, essentially killing 2 birds with the proverbial stone. I swear, he’s a smart smart man that John Trippe.

Since it’s been a rainy week, we checked the weather radar and determined that I had a 20 minute window to accomplish my mission. So after getting a camera hastily shoved into my hands, I was merrily sent along my way.

The sign lied. There were definitely no Greek imports in Modern Hair.

And this is where I add a little side story.

So I have this weakness for wig stores and even though wigs are expensive and I never wear them, I can hardly pass by a store without fighting the urge to walk in. Once inside, my gaze was immediately drawn to the biggest, rattiest wig they had. Coincidently, I recently saw an old picture of Tina Turner and have been secretly inspired by the awesomeness of her big lion mane. This was an opportunity I couldn't resist. I asked to try it on. After asking “How much?” the lady behind the counter offered it to me for $25. Pretty steep for a ratty-ass wig but then she quickly added that it was normally $45. Apparently since the owner wasn’t there, she was cutting me a deal.

I got my beloved bike stolen 2 blocks up from here. 3 weeks later and my butt still burns from it!

Pigeon feeding frenzy!

While I was out I decided to go check on my car since I was parked in a zoned area. For all of you who have followed me this far, I’ll let you in on a secret: Meter maids keep track of parked cars by swiping the tires with chalk. Most times if your car has been marked you can just wipe it off, avoiding those pesky parking tickets. But it’s not foolproof! Once in while you get a clever one and they ticket you anyways.

I’ve been eyeballing these clocks for a while now. Jesus on the cross is my fave.

Mmm...hot corn-on-a-stick smothered in mayo, cheese, and chili.

A beacon of sunshiny positivity on an otherwise cold and dreary day. Is it just me or do those seniors look positively radiant?

Looks like my 20 minutes are up. BOOOO.

But behind every cloud is a silver lining so I’ll use this opportunity for shameless self-promotion!
