San Francisco artist Jesse Balmer emailed over this drawing recently and, by gosh, we'd like to share it with you.

Speaking of Jesse Balmer, we loaned supervisor Jane Kim artwork for her office, which included some work from Jesse Balmer, and we almost forgot about it. Damn, that was two years ago. Wonder if the works are still hanging. Might be time to investigate.

As we approach the Holidays (are we there now?), we thought we'd check in with some of the artists currently showing in our Winter Group Show at FFDG on display through Jan 12th.

We've been posting up Barcelona based Max Rippon's (RIPO) work for years now (since 2009?). He does a lot of it outdoors and some of it indoors like he did with his recent show at White Walls (pics).

For some press release terminology: Heavily influenced by sign painting, Ripo creates text-based work with an urban aesthetic, exploring single words and short turns of phrase with a tongue-in-cheek sensibility. Elaborately-drawn fonts, formed with watercolor, ink, graphite, sign painters enamel and oil pastels on delicate handcut paper, allow us to appreciate the aesthetics of the words regardless of their associations.... Here is a short interview with the prolific fella covering all the bases.

My friends, my brother, the Internet, and letters, signs, and sights I come across in the streets. Coming across unintentionally hysterical signage is the best.

It can range from midday to midnight. An "average" day (I actually don't have these too often) I wake up mid-morning and do a bit of work in the studio or on the computer before running errands. If I get out of the house too late I won't be able to do anything since most places close in Spain during lunchtime. It's one of the most inconvenient things about living here. Then later in the afternoon I'll get down to business in the studio until someone distracts me and drags me out at night.

Czech Republic's Pasta Oner emailed last week his wall for Prague's street art/ museum show Stuck on the City which runs through the new year. Mike Shine emailed over a lil' bit of recent work around San Francisco. He's currently in the Winter Group Show at FFDG through Jan 12 and is preparing for another large scale show at 941 Geary in March.

Driving from the east to the west of America (thanks Marcy and Alex) to stop at Tucson. By invitation of Eric Firestone of the Boneyard Project I got to paint this US Navy discarded plane that been used during the Korean war. Painting such a 'loaded' surface, gives some 'weight' during painting it.

Got an email from Czech Republic street artist Pasta Oner who recently completed the mural in his native Czech Republic as part of "Stuck on the City" in Prague featuring artists like Bates, Delta, Horfe, How & Nosm, M-city, Swoon and many others (25 artists all around the world).

Our buddy, San Francisco based sculptor Jud Bergeron, checked out Art Basel this past weekend in Miami and brings back this blog featuring some works that caught his eye.

As the show title suggests, Kinsey attempts to convey a world gone mad with media, perpetual conflict, and a sense of the mounting struggle between the urban and natural worlds. Kinsey creates this new body of work through a brash synthesis of materials, textures, and aesthetics, conjuring multilayered abstractions with traces of figuration which create dynamic transformations of images within images.

We're so pleased to have the acclaimed Dave Kinsey back in our space since his solo show last May (pics). He's set to open his next solo show at Joshua Liner on Dec 13th.

Dave Kinsey's known for his emotionally charged paintings and murals, as well as high-visibility logos and advertising campaigns, including the ubiquitous DC Shoes logo, The Black-Eyed Peas Elephunk album icon, N.E.R.D. "brain", Epitaph Records identity and, most recently, his work with the international Absolut Blank campaign.

Sorry to have seen our local Bacon Bacon truck go up in flames 15 minutes ago as it was turning onto Fredrick just a block from their headquarters. The truck was pretty well decimated by the fire and by the two explosions heard... We're sure they're insured and hope to see their truck bouncing about town in the near future.

After going through some inventory in our storage, we came across this original by Dave Kinsey on craft paper from his solo show last spring at FFDG. You can grab it in our online shop here.

We will be hosting an inventory blowout sale with some of our friends here @FFDG on Friday, Nov 30th with music, food and drinks. Details to come on Monday, but for now, mark your calendar.
