At Dolby Chadwick on Thursday night, a crowd gathered for the opening of John DiPaolo's new paintings. The crowd could be heard down the hallway, immediately after exiting the elevator, you were inclined to go to the gallery even if that wasn't your original destination. The crowd opened up to a divided space where DiPaolo's large paintings were given plenty of room to be enjoyed.

Portland based AJ Fosik opens his second show with Guerrero Gallery this Saturday in SF (7-11pm) featuring new wood sculptural works.

Consisting of hundreds of individually cut pieces of wood, vividly varnished and strategically placed, each of Fosik's pieces undergoes full woodshop gestation, a trade he taught himself. Evocative of American Folk Art, drawing inspiration from a wide range of cultural backgrounds and religious iconography, his sculptures are "existential fetishes."

Oh, and if you vote for Obama, you have the satisfaction of knowing that he'll most likely get to nominate the next supreme court justice who WON'T repeal a women's right to choose... you know, for starters.

Tony Marsh shared twelve new works with a very sophisticated financial district crowd last Thursday night @Hedge Gallery. Guests were immediately greeted with wine and hors d'oeuvres (which were very good, by the way) into the brightly lit space that seemed to be glowing from the street. The space is large, so there was room for guests, and there were quite a few who seemed to be enjoying themselves, including a little ballerina.

Tony Marsh @Hedge Gallery in San Francisco

In 1971 a fisherman in Maine found an orphaned harbor seal. They named him Hoover after their vacuum cleaner 'cause he ate like one... He and his wife raised him, feed him and kept him in their bathtub till he grew too large for it and moved him outside to their pond.

Over the years Hoover began imitating people's voices...

When Hoover out-grew the backyard pond, the fisherman and his wife gave him up to the New England Aquarium. There at the aquarium he continued his human mimicking by telling visitors to "Get outta here!" or "Well Hello Deah" in a thick New England accent.

After hearing a story on this morning's NPR, we knew this would make an amazing ringtone. So we compiled a collection of his recordings we could find online, strung them together and created this ringtone, which you can download here if so inclined... Just knew we had to hear this guy on a daily basis.

NYC Peoples, get to Tiffany Bozic's opening on Thursday. Beautiful paintings. ~ San Francisco based painter Tiffany Bozic opens the solo show, Transformation, this Thursday, Nov 1st at NYC's Joshua Liner Gallery (6-9pm).

And here we go. As of this writing, San Francisco is about to play game 4 to possibly clinch it's 2nd World Series in 3 years. Who knows, maybe Detroit will bounce back. Maybe not. Maybe the Giants continue the roll they've been on and wrap things up... What is certain are the facts. No team in baseball history has come back to win the World Series after being down 3-0... No matter what happens, it's going to be a fun game to watch

Where will you be watching game 4 this Sunday afternoon? In 2010 we watched down the street from our home in the Mission at The Phoenix. This year we live near the Lower Haight and will be watching at what will be a packed Mad Dog... If there is a win tonight, the Mission will be going nuts. Remember in 2010?! Holy Shit.
