A few November weekends back, I headed down with Travis Millard and Jim Dirschberger for o Breaks, a group show curated by Jay Howell and Louis Schmidt, which opened 11.11.11 at Double Break store and gallery in San Diego, CA.
The show included over 30 artists including Bill Griffith, Russ Pope, Neil Blender, Mark Whalen, Thomas Campbell, Marco Zamora, Deth Kills, Chris Sullivan, Ruth Swanson, Sean Stout, Rob Helmstetter, Christopher Kardambikis, Rich Bott, Jim Dirschberger, Deth P. Sun, Mel Kadel, REMIO, David Cook, Michael C. Hsiung, Travis Millard, Tim Presley, Ryan Travis Christian, Thomas McMahan, Jay Howell, Louis M. Schmit, Jesse Balmer, Matt Coors, Mark Mulroney, and Ed Templeton.
Hope I got all those sites correct. Anyhow tons of folks showed up for the opening, drank tons at the local bar, 3 out of 4 of us who carpooled together barfed, crashed on Jim's Motel 6 floor, ordered a late pizza, and ran over a ham and cheese sandwich on our way home.
Mike Maxwell stopped by with some presents. Thanks for the cards, zine and shirts.
Mark Whalen next to his piece.
Ed Templeton pieceeeee!
Something exciting just happened and I think I missed it.

We begin at the opening because I didn't take any pictures on the way down. We stop off before the opening to check out the group show.
Jay was there, signing prints and eating . . . we grabbed a beer and checked out the place. If you haven't gone to check out Double Break in San Diego, then you're blowin it. Great store. This is a caption - Just a few sneak peeks of works. Left to Right: Thomas Campbell, Mark Whalen (Kill Pixie), and Ryan Travis Christian.
One of Jay's pieces for the show. This one is so radddd! Pool skate jam party.
Jay and Jim Dirschberger in front of Bill Griffith's comic panel piece. Pretty sweet to see it in person.
I've got a collection of photographs of Jay slamming food in his mouth. This reveals the height discrepancy between Jay and I.
Another one for the books.
Me next to my tattooed Merman piece. Just realized I forgot to wash away my lotto picks on my hand.
Pretty soon folks start rolling in to check out the group show.
Check out this sweet tattoo of a Jay piece that CJ has.
After a long ride and peeing on someone's lap in the car, Street Dog has arrived and boy does he need a beer.
Louis from Double Break with Double Break coozie.
This fellow I believe bought this Lowcard shirt. I think he could pull it off though.
CJ and Louis!
Artist Sean Stout
Phil took the train to check out the show. Little did he know Street Dog would pee on his lap at the bar later.
Either Street Dog or I did that. Probably me.

Old skatebuddy and friend, Mark Dellelis always stops shows I'm participating in, in SD. Thanks dude.
Travis Millard, Mike Maxwell, and Phil Toselli stop for a group shot before the bar.
Already in the bar, Jay and Street Dog.
Ruth holding Street Dog moments before peeing on Phil. Good job Street. I've done the same, ask Phi.
Ruth and Jay "neck".
The reaction from Jim and Travis. . . haha.
Next door at the bar, frequented by transexuals, Matt Coors and Jay and Jim's middle finger.
Carpool buddies still hanging in there. Love that portrait behind Travis.
Jay, Jim and Travis making the best faces I've seen them make before we closed the bar.
After a short walk back to the Motel 6, vaguely remember ordering a pizza, throwing it up and taking two photos before I passed out. Here's one. Travis and pizza.
Last photo of the evening - Travis passed out in his man-cocoon.
Morning after . . . kinda of looks like Jim has a huge boner tent going.
After some coffee and a shower, the guys are up and posing with the remains of our pizza. Proud pizza parents.
Walked around, got some food with Phil, and then headed out for the road, but not before backing over where we stashed it for emergency. We actually have 3 angles of this shot.
